Item #: WR494

This is a Reproduction World War II US Navy M1 helmet and liner. The helmet shell has been sand blasted to bare metal and retextured and painted. There is no visible heat stamp under the rim of the helmet. This one is painted lighter shade of blue/gray, with the letters USN stenciled on the front in black. The inside of the helmet is painted the same light blue/gray color. The exterior has a light sand texture applied to it. The helmet shell is dent free. The stainless steel band around the rim retains all of the paint. The rim has a rear seam stainless steel band. The chin strap bails are swivel. The chin straps are the correct type, but are definitely post war. The liner is from the post WWII era. The makers stamp is Westinghouse, but it is not of the WWII period. The liner still has the original coat of paint on the exterior, the interior is unpainted. The liner is complete, with suspension, sweat band and the nape strap. The suspension cloth is cotton and is post WWII era. The sweatband is complete and is also post WWII era. The DSA stamp dates this one to 1978 I can't make out the stamp on the nape strap, but it is also post WWII. This is a nice example of a US Navy M1 combat helmet from WWII but would look great on your USN mannequin!
