Tennessee Celluloid Badge
Item #: WR498
This is a Tennessee celluloid badge made by The Pettibone Bros Manufacturing Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The firm went by this name from 1895 until 1945. These badges, sometimes referred to as header badges, were normally found at the top of reunion ribbons. The obviously identified the wearer as representing the state of Tennessee, but were not worn by just anyone. These were usually worn by those who held positions of leadership within a UCV Division, such as Tennessee would have represented. They were worn in conjunction with Brigade Commander, Division Commander, Inspector General badges and other positions of authority within a division. This Tennessee header badge measures 3" wide and 1 1/4" at the widest point. It is in very good condition, the celluloid is not cracked or yellowed and the gilt trim is unblemished. The back of the badge is stamped THE PETTIBONE BROS MFG CIN O/MILITARY & SOCIETY GOODS. The pin is still present and secure, as well as the bar for the ribbon. Traces of red and white material are still present from the ribbon. If you need a Tennessee celluloid badge to complete a reunion ribbon, here you go!
