United Confederate Veterans "A Soldier of Gen'l Forrest" Celluloid

This is a Nathan Bedford Forrest celluloid from the United Confederate Veterans reunion period. This is probably the hardest Forrest UCV badge to find out there, and this one is in excellent condition. It consists of a celluloid of Forrest suspended by a red/white/red ribbon and a hanger. The hanger is a simple copper piece with gold gilt and a brass pinback soldered to it. The ribbon is approximately 2" long and 1 1/2" wide, with the red and white colors still being very vibrant. There is one small pick in the ribbon, in the white near the hanger. There is no fraying of the ribbon anywhere. The celluloid of General Forrest is 2 1/8" across, and depicts Forrest as a Lieutenant General in the later years of the war. He is shown in a double breasted frock, his hair beginning to turn gray and his face showing the effects of a long, hard fought war. Even though he shows the effects of the war, there is still a fierce, determined look on his face. The back of the badge is what sets this one apart from the few others I have seen. The back still has the celluloid "A Soldier of Gen'l Forrest" intact. Of these particular badges, this is hands down the best one I have ever seen. If you collect Nathan Bedford Forrest UCV items, this could very well be the centerpiece of your collection.
