WWI US Model 1910 Pick Mattock Carrier
Item #: WR525

This is a US Model 1910 pick mattock carrier from the World War I period. The pick mattock was used alongside the entrenching tool (shovel) extensively during WWI during that period of trench warfare. This canvas carrier was used to carry the wooden haft and metal head of the pick mattock. It remained virtually unchanged through WWII, when it was replaced by the Model 1943 entrenching tool, that could be used as a pick or shovel. This pick carrier is in very good, unissued condition. The M1910 belt hook still retains all the blacking, as well as the buckle and tip of the strap securing the mattock head. It is ink stamped in three lines GIMBEL BRO/ORD. DEPT./INSPTD.120. This would make a great addition to any WWII US Doughboy display.
