This is a firing table booklet for the French 75mm Model 1897 field gun used by the United State Army during World War I. The booklet is 79 pages and is illustrated with different ammunition tables, altitude charts, and firing tables. The French 75mm field gun was rated to fire two types of shells, high explosive and shrapnel. The different types of shell information is colored coded with the booklet, red, yellow, brown and blue. These booklets were printed in France by the American Expeditionary Forces Headquarters, after translating the French version dated 25 August, 1917. The American military purchased hundreds of the Model 1897 75mm field guns, so the need for these firing tables printed in English was created. They were issued to Artillery officers and Non Commissioned Officers. The booklet is is good condition, but shows wear from actual use. This is a must piece for the WWI artillery collector.
