This is a theater made US 82nd Division patch from World War I. The patch measures 3" wide and 3" high. This is an early patch that does not incorporate the white double AA's that stood for the All Americans, nickname for the division. The blue circle is wool and is sewn onto a red wool background to form the 82nd patch. The patch is then sewn onto a green wool backing. There is no moth damage to be found anywhere on the patch. I don't believe this 82nd Division patch was ever sewn on a tunic. The 82nd Division patch is probably the most recognizable patch from WWI, thanks to fellow Tennessean Alvin York! The overall condition of this WWI 82nd Division patch is excellent.
