Matched Set of Non Dug Confederate Spurs with Straps

This is a set of non excavated Confederate spurs used during the Civil War. These spurs have not been identified by a particular maker, and have been found all across the US. These cast brass spurs have a rounded body and a squared off arched neck. The arms of this spur have a smooth transition into the strap plates. The strap plates have slightly beveled openings for the straps. The 1", 18 point iron rowels are still on the neck and rotate freely. The book "Confederate, US and other Civil War Used Spurs" by Bob Baird shows a good example of this type spur, shown as a CS-21 variant, on pages 58 and 59. This set of spurs is in magnificent condition with a beautiful chocolate brown patina. The bodies of the spurs are straight, no twists or bends. The necks are straight and still retain the iron pins and rowels. The rough finish work clearly shows the file marks. The only way it could be better would be if they had the original leather straps! Oh wait, these do have the straps, so it doesn't get any better than this! One of the roller buckles on the straps is barely hanging on, but it is still there. If you have a spur collection or a Confederate Cavalry collection this set belongs in it!
