Item #: WR580

This is a Civil War period Union patriotic "Cockade". During the Civil War men, women and children wore these cockades to show their support for the Union. This cockade is made from a single piece of woven cotton material that has been dyed red, white and blue. It is arranged in a circular pleated design, and has a cuff size Union general Service button in the center, and a red, white and blue ribbon sewn on. The edges are frayed, more so on the left side. The button and ribbon are securely sewn on, along with a pin to attach the cockade to clothing. While the edges are frayed, the colors still remain very bright, and the cockade displays well. This would look nice in a home front display or collection.
