Confederate Old English Script I Button S. Isaacs Campbell Back Mark

This is a non excavated Confederate Old English Script Infantry button from the Civil War period. The button is of a two piece design with a border, measures 22mm and is back marked S. ISAACS CAMPBELL & Co. LONDON/71 JERMYN St. The script letter I is lined and is on a plain field. Most of the gilt remains on the face of the button, giving it a soft golden patina. The back of the button has a light chocolate patina. The shank is still reporting for duty, and is standing tall. This button is represented as CS 177 in Albert's book on page 375. If you collect Civil War buttons you better give this one a hard look, it will make a nice addition to your Confederate Infantry button section!
