This is a US side arms lanyard from World War II. This woven cord lanyard measures 38" in length. It has a leather end tab that attaches to a metal hook. The metal hook was used to attach to the lanyard ring of either the .45 caliber automatic pistol or the .38 caliber revolver. The free looped end of the lanyard was then worn over the shoulder of the soldier. This ensured that even if he dropped the weapon he wouldn't lose it. The end tab is marked marked HICKOK and dated 1943. This lanyard is in issued condition, and has a repair to the leather tab at the hook. The final touch to your WWII small arms collection!
