This is a British 7 power telescope used with a high angle gun during World War II. The all brass telescope measures 24 1/2" in length and weighs approximately 12 pounds. These telescopes were used with anti aircraft guns, sometimes mounted on the gun, and other times mounted on a tripod. Stamped on the left side of the housing in the company logo is W OTTWAY & Co Ltd/MANUFACTURERS/EALING LONDON. Above the Ottway logo a British War Department broad arrow acceptance stamp is stamped. The right side of the housing is stamped W beside A over T/ POWER 7 TELESCOPE/FOR HIGH ANGLE gun/No 2386 Np 45/1944/PATT. No 0350. The brass has a very eye pleasing patina. The optics of this telescope are crystal clear. You could still use this one to bring down a Heinkel or two! If you have a British anti aircraft collection, you should really check this piece out!
