This is an ammunition can for 105 rounds of .50 caliber ammo used with the M2 Browning Heavy Barrel machine gun used during World War II. The can measures 12 1/4" wide, 6" deep and 7 1/2" tall. This ammo can is stamped AMM. BOX CAL. 50 M2 at the bottom on the side of the can where the latch is located. One end of the can is embossed with the Ordnance bomb and the letter U on one side and S on the other. Above the Ordnance stamp is the maker, J.B.S. CO. with in a rectangular block. The rubber gasket in the lid is still present and not torn. There is quite a bit of surface rust present, but the ammo can is still very serviceable. There are no stencils left on the ammo can. This would really look good in your vehicle mounted .50 caliber M2 display!
