US Army Improved First Aid Kit

This is an Improved First Aid Kit, IFAK, currently being used by the United States Army. This is the first version IFAK, there is a second version, the IFAK II, also in the field. It was determined shortly after the Iraq and Afghanistan operations began that the simple field dressing issued to ground troops at that time was not sufficient to treat the trauma being experienced in those theaters. The Improved First aid Kit was born out of that necessity to treat the two most common and serious wounds, external bleeding and airway occlusions. The contents of the IFAK include; Tourniquet, Combat Application, Bandage Kit, Elastic, Bandage gauze 4 1/2" 100 package, Adhesive Tape, Surgical 2" wide x 6", Airway, Nasopharyngeal, Glove, Patient Exam, the actual First Aid Pouch and the insert with folding panels and elastic cord. This kit is missing the tourniquet. The Advanced Camouflage pattern first aid pouch is designed to be used with the MOLLE system, worn on the body armor most often. The pouch, insert and components of the kit are in good condition, with the gloves, bandages and airway aid still sealed.
