This is a hand oiler for the M1919 series Browning machine gun used by the US military during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. This small hand oiler was part of the kit used by the assigned crews of these machine guns to clean and maintain them in a field environment. Including the spout, the oiler is 6 1/2" tall, 3 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" thick. It retains it's original OD color and infantry blue stenciled lettering. The period correct spout, cap and retaining chain are still present. These small oilers were essential in order to keep the guns firing at high rates of fire. If you have a M1919, this little oiler will go well with your display!
