WWII US M3A1 Gas Mask Carrier

This is a US Army M1VA1 gas mask carrier from World War II. These carriers were used to house the individual soldiers protective mask, dimming stick, lense cloth and filter. It was feared that the Germans would use chemical weapons as they did in World War I. This one is khaki in color and has not been stenciled for training use. The adjustable waist strap has been cut off, but the neck strap is securely attached to the carrier. There is one small slit in the canvas carrier at the very top rear edge, approximately 1/2" long. This one could still be used in a display on a mannequin.
