This is a Confederate pay sheet for money owed to D.S. Collins, a civilian, for fodder. The pay sheet covers 6730 pounds of fodder at $2.00 per 100 pounds, for a total of $134.60. The typed name for the assistant quartermaster is Capt. N. A. Birge, but his signature is not found on the form. It does state that Collins received $134.60 at Monroe, Louisiana on 24 November, 1862. Collins' signature id found at the bootm right corner of the form. The form itself is an actual Confederate form, not a crossed out copy of a Union form. This document is in fair condition, showing the effects of having been folded in thirds for years. The creases are now starting to separate, and two old tape repairs are visible on the back side. The ink is not smudged and the writing is very legible. This is a pretty rare Confederate document that has survived the last 160 years in fair condition.
