This is a Model 1950 enlisted mans Eisenhower Jacket with Model 1937 khaki shirt from the Korean War era. This style of jacket became popularly known as the Eisenhower, or "Ike" jacket during World War II. The M1950 differs slightly from the WWII era Ike jacket. The sleeves do not have cuffs, the throat closure tab was deleted, the adjustable buckle waist straps were replaced with a single button, one inner pocket was deleted, the front pockets were changed from expandable to non expandable pleats and removing the pocket buttons in favor of two small ball and socket snaps in each corner of the pocket flap. The quartermaster tag in the right pocket of the jacket shows this one was made by R& R Clothing Co. Inc., dated March 10, 1951 and is a size 38S. The tag is very legible, to include the inspectors mark. The Private First Class chevrons are of the 1951 variety, when the Army changed back to the larger stripes. The unit patch on the left sleeve is of the US 6th Army. The collar brass is the medical field on the left and US on the right. The M37 khaki long sleeve shirt is in good condition, but does have staining. It also has the 6th Army patch on the left sleeve. The 6th Army was active from 1943-1995 and 2008 through the present. This would make a nice start for the new collector in the family.
