WWII US Fifth Corps Patch

This is a pair of US Fifth Corps patches from the World War II period. The patches measures 2 1/8" at the widest point and 2" at the highest point. The patches are in the shape of a pentagon, with five triangular sections in blue and five triangular borders in white to denote the numerical designation of the unit, with a white border. The US Fifth Corps was first organized from 7-12 July, 1918 in France. During the period between WWI and WWII the Fifth Corps was relegated to the reserve system. The US Fifth Corps was fully activated in the Regular Army on 20 October, 1940 at Camp Beauregard, Louisiana. It operated in the European Theater of Operations, and received campaign streamers for Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe campaigns. These one piece patches are all machine sewn. There is no moth damage on either patch. Neither of the patches has ever been on a uniform. If you collect WWII US patches you gotta have one of these.
