WWII US Eisenhower Jacket 9th Air Force

This is a Model 1943 enlisted mans Eisenhower jacket from World War II. This style of jacket became popularly known as the Eisenhower, or "Ike" jacket during World War II. The 1943 version of the jacket the sleeves have adjustable cuffs, a throat closure tab, adjustable buckle waist straps, two inner pockets and the front pockets have a single button each. A quartermaster tag is sewn into the left inner pocket. It reads "Jackets, Field,/Wool, O.D./Stock No. 55-J-384-585/Size 36L/LOUIS GOLDSMITH Inc./P. O. No. 13119/Dated June 24, 1944/Pattern Dated 5/10/44/Spec. P. Q. D. No. 437/Phila. Q. M. Depot" with a space for the inspector's stamp below. A small tag sewn into the collar also shows this one to be a size 36L. The unit patch on the left sleeve is of the 9th Air Force. Sewn on below the unit patch are the chevrons of a Technician 5th Grade. There are four overseas stripes sewn above the left sleeve cuff, indicating at least 24 months overseas. there is also a single service stripe to indicate at least three years in service. The right sleeve has the chevrons of a Technician 5th Grade, a Meritorious Unit Commendation patch and a Communications Specialist patch sewn on it. The 9th Air Force has seen service from WWII through current day. During World War II the 9th Air Force was engaged in missions in the Egypt-Libya, Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe campaigns. This unidentified Technician 5th Grade of the 9th Air Force wears the collar brass of the Signal Corps on the left side and US on the right side of the collar. His ribbons include a Veterans of Foreign Wars ribbon, the World War I Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one campaign star. An Expert Qualification badge with a carbine bar is pinned on the left pocket flap. There is no Presidential Unit Citation or honorable service patch (ruptured duck) sewn above the right pocket. There is no laundry number or name written on the lining of the jacket. This "Ike" jacket is in very good condition, but has had the adjustment straps at the waist removed. It will be a good candidate for the beginning WWII collector.
