WWII US Army Nineteenth Corps Patch

This is a US Army Nineteenth Corps patch from the World War II period. The patch measures 2 1/4" at the widest point and 2 1/2" high. The patch is the 1st design and is in the shape of a bell in red and having a yellow border. The mission style bell is representative of the area to which the corps was allocated. The red and yellow colors represent the original Spanish settlement in the corps area. The US Nineteenth Corps was first constituted on 29 July, 1921 in San Francisco, California and allocated to the Organized Reserves. This patch was approved for wear on 6 April, 1935. The Nineteenth Corps was activated on 20 August, 1942, at Camp Polk, Louisiana as the III Armored Corps. It was redesignated as Nineteenth Corps on 10 October, 1943 at Camp Polk, Louisiana. The Nineteenth Corps fought in the European Theater of Operations, and received campaign streamers for the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. This one piece patch is all machine sewn. There is no moth damage on the patch and it has have never been on a uniform. If you collect WWII US patches you gotta have one of these.
