WWII German Luftschutz Medal 2nd Class

This is a German Luftschutz (Air Defense) Medal in second class issued during World War II. The medallion is constructed of zinc with a silver wash applied. The front of the medal has an oak wreath around the perimeter, with a canted swastika in the center. Inscribed in an oval around the swastika is "FUR VERDIENSTE IM LUFTSCHUTZ" (For services in Air Raid Protection). The reverse of the medal is inscribed with the date of 1938, the year the medal was instituted, in the center of an oak wreath. The medal is suspended from a purple ribbon with black, white and red stripes along the edges. Overall this Luftschutz medal is in very good condition. The ribbon does not have a clasp on the reverse. This Luftschutz medal will make a great addition to your WWII German medal collection.
