This is a Broadsword Service Medal presented to members of the Michigan National Guard. The medal measures 3 1/2" tall and 1 1/2" at the widest point. The medal consists of a gold broadsword suspended from a dark blue ribbon. This medal is presented to members of the Michigan National Guard for three years of honorable active service. Subsequent awards of this medal are represented by an oak leaf cluster added to the ribbon. If you have a US medals collection I bet this one ain't in it!
