This is a silver badge for the Reserve Officer Training Corps that I believe is from from the WWII era. It measures 3/4" at the widest point and 1 1/4" high. The insignia retains the majority of the original silver finish and uses pins and clutch backs, but the clutch backs are missing. It is back marked with a military style shield with a fox on the top, a star in each upper corner, a chevron with the letters WB under it. I believe this represents Wolf-Brown Inc of Los Angeles, California. The Reserve Officer Training Corps was officially established in 1916 under the National Defense Act. This federally controlled program allowed for the training of military officers at civilian colleges, and paved the way for today's JROTC and ROTC programs. This would look great in an early American officer's insignia collection.
