This is a pair of summer issue cotton US Army trousers the are Pre World War I. I believe that they are somewhere between 1902 and 1910. They have the "mule ear" front pockets that button in the corner. The trousers have tow front pockets in addition to a watch pocket and two rear pockets. The rear pockets do not have flaps or buttons. The look to be about a size 30 in the waist with a 24" inseam. The trousers have seven belt loops, but no buttons for suspenders. The cuffs are provisioned for laces, but no buttons. The five button front has all buttons present, the buttons being riveted on instead of sewn. The only thing missing from these trousers is the button for the right front pocket. The trousers are a khaki color and show staining, mostly from storage. There are no holes or moth damage to this pair. Between 1902 and 1910 the US Army underwent several changes to the uniform, before they standardized the uniform in 1910. Even though the standardization started in 1910, US involvement in WWI saw issues of old stocks of uniforms to outfit the newly organized Allied Expeditionary Force that saw service overseas during WWI. These pants would make add to any WWI display, especially on a mannequin.
