This is a set of US Model 1926 military mess kit utensils used during World War II. These sets were made up of tin plated steel or rust resistant steel. During WWII, the knife handle was made of bakelite or aluminum. All three utensils are stamped US of the front of the handle. The knife is stamped L.F.&C. /1941 on the back of the handle. All three of the utensils has a slot in the handle so that it can be slipped over the mess kit handle to facilitate cleaning at field kitchen locations in boiling water. The meat can pouches of WWII had individual pockets sewn in them for the utensils, to help prevent unnecessary noise. This is a good example of a set of mess kit utensils used during WWII.
