Civil War Era Cavalry Gauntlets

This is a pair of 1860's Cavalry gauntlets from the Civil War era. The gloves are 11 1/2" in length, with a 5" cuff. I believe that these are made of angora goat, but I'm not a leather expert. What ever the source, the leather is still very pliable with moderate staining from limited use. The stitching is unbroken and just as tight today as when they were made. The outside of the cuffs are an orange/yellow color. Inside the cuff portion of the left glove is a small size tag indicating 7 1/2. I believe that these are a private purchase set of gauntlets. They are very well constructed, with the thumb seam and fingers being welted. This is a great set of hard to find Cavalry accoutrements for your Civil War collection.
