This is a copy of The Kingsport Times, a newspaper serving the northeast Tennessee Tri City area. It is a City edition and is dated 20 October, 1942. This is only the front page of the paper, containing pages 1, 2 9 and 10. The headline for this Tuesday in 1942 reads, "Knox Warns Of Big Pacific Clash." There are two photos on the front page, one showing a picture taken from a US warship somewhere in the Pacific during the battle for the Solomon Islands, and the other shows a ships christening performed by an Oklahoma women surrounded by her three sons, all in the Navy. There are numerous articles on the front page that relate to the war, from the Nazi assault on Stalingrad, coverage of the fighting on Guadalcanal, the ships christening and new measures suggested for the draft. The paper is in fair condition, showing some damage by insects and rodents along the right side in the middle of the paper. The pages are slightly yellowed, but all text and images are perfectly legible. This would go great with your WWII documents collection.
