This is a non excavated, private purchase brass spur used after the Civil War. This cast brass spur has a rounded body and a squared off arched neck. The arms of this spur have a smooth transition into the strap plates. The strap plates have slightly beveled openings for the straps. The 3/4", 15 point iron rowel is still on the neck and rotates freely. This spur is in very good condition with a beautiful subdued golden patina. The body of the spur is straight, no twists or bends. The neck is straight and still retains the iron pin and rowel. If it only had the original leather strap! This particular style of spur is slightly smaller than Civil War period spurs, and is probably from the Spanish American War to early 1900's period. If you have a spur collection, this little jewel belongs in it!
