This is a United States Marine Corps Service "Alpha" uniform minus the khaki long sleeve shirt. The Marines enlisted service uniform was adopted in 1943, making it the oldest service uniform in the American military. This uniform jacket and trousers belonged to Sergeant Major D. Garcia. Unfortunately I have not been able to find any information on the Sergeant Major. His name, rank and social security number are printed ink black marker inside his jacket, his first initial and last name are printed in black marker on the waist band of the trousers. I have no way of knowing when the Sergeant Major's service began or ended, but he served during the Vietnam War and for at least 28 years as indicated by his awards and service stripes. The jacket is a size 41 regular, the trousers are a size 36 regular. The chevrons sewn on each sleeve reflect the rank of a Marine Sergeant Major. Sewn above each sleeve cuff are seven green service stripes on a red field to indicate 28 years of service. Pinned on each collar point is an enlisted Eagle Globe and Anchor of the Marine Corps. His ribbons include the Bronze Star with V device, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps Presidential Unit Citation with two bronze stars, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Marine Corp Good Conduct, National Defense, Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Republic of Vietnam Civil Action and the Vietnam Campaign ribbon. Pinned to the left pocket flap are an expert rifle badge and an expert pistol badge. The jacket and trousers are free or any damage or stains and have been very well maintained. This uniform would look excellent on a mannequin, all you need is a khahi shirt, tie and shoes!
