This is a pair of private purchase officer's pantaloon's from the pre WWI period. I believe these are from the 1910-1916 period. The fact that there are no rear pockets puts them in that time period. From 1907 to 1909 the suspender buttons were sewn on the inside of the waist band, after 1909 they were sewn on the outside. All of the buttons on the pants are made of plastic, which were none regulation. All are of the same type with one exception, an obvious period replacement. There are two front pockets, but there is no watch pocket. The waist band is lined with light green polished cotton, the pockets are also made of cotton. There is no makers label or tag sewn anywhere in the pants. Sections of a soft suede material have been hand stitched to the inside of the legs, running from just above the knee down to the fourth eyelet of each leg. Each leg has a tear in the material beginning where the material with the eyelets is stitched to the pants legs. The left leg also has a small tear and broken stitching along the seam about 4" above the first tear. The material is slightly discolored on the rear of the pants that follows the center seam from the waist band to the crotch, then down the back of each pant leg. A little stitch work will correct the problems on the front, even without it these private purchase pantaloons still display well and would go well in a pre WWI Cavalry collection.
