This is a German vehicle license plate tag used during World War II. The tag was used to identify the District Superintendent of the Bitburg region of Germany. The aluminum disc measures 1 3/4" across the face. The red enamel paint remains in good condition, with just a couple of spots where the paint is missing. The party eagle is in the center of the disc, the wording surrounding it identifies this vehicle as belonging to the District Superintendent of Bitburg. A hole in the center of the disc was used to rivet the tag to the vehicle's license plate. The reverse of the disc is blank and has an aged appearance. This will make a nice addition to your WWII German collection.
