.46 Caliber Remington Split Breech Carbine Rimfire Cartridge

This is a non excavated .46 caliber pointed nose Remington split breech carbine cartridge used during the Civil War. This copper cased cartridge has no head stamp. The case length is 1.105" with a projectile diameter of .456", with an overall length of 1.840". The projectile, a pointed nose, has an aged, light gray patina to it. The copper case has a beautiful bronze patina. These rounds were made for the Type I Remington split breech carbine. The Type II's were chambered in .50 caliber, but did not see service in the Civil War. If you have an ammunition collection, this one needs to be in it!
