Identified US Navy Service Dress White Uniform IT3rd Class JC Young USS Cadmus

This is a US Navy enlisted service dress white uniform identified to Information Systems Technician 3rd Class JC Young from the Vietnam War period. The uniform is made up of the jumper, pants and neckerchief. There is some staining light brown staining on the jumper and pants, but no moth damage. The white polyester blend jumper has the rate of an Information Systems Technician Third Class on the left sleeve and a unit identifying mark of the U.S.S. CADMUS on the right sleeve. The jumper has no stripes sewn on either sleeve cuff, nor the collar flap. There are no stars embroidered on the collar flap. The pants have a five button conventional fly with five white plastic buttons present. The pants have two identifications stenciled in the waist band, a CHAPPUIS LF and YOUNG BC. The last name of YOUNG is also stenciled on the back side of each front pocket. The jumper is stenciled BCY in the neck area and YOUNG BC/6143120 inside the hem at the waist. Also ink stamped on the hem is SIZE 40/CONTRACT NO. DSA-100-68-C-0034/STOCK NO. 8405-266-7800/MARTIN MFG. CO. The USS Cadmus was a Shenandoah class destroyer tender commissioned in 1946. It was designed to provide repair and maintenance support to destroyers and other smaller vessels, to include submarines. The Cadmus operated primarily out of Norfolk, Virginia with the US Atlantic fleet. The ship was decommissioned on 14 September, 1971. This is a great starter piece for the beginning collector.
