Item #: WR1103

This is a female Labor Corps (REICHARBEITSDIENST) brooch from World War II. The RAD was established as an agency in Nazi Germany to help mitigate the effects of unemployment on the German economy, militarize the work force and indoctrinate it with the Nazi ideology. It was recognized as the official labor service, with separate sections for men and women. This brooch is made of zinc, circular in shape and measures 1 3/4" across. It has the RAD insignia of a swastika over two sheaves of wheat in the center. There are just traces of the bronze wash that this brooch once had. The pin on the reverse is original to the brooch and does not show any repairs. There is no makers mark or RZM code on the back. If you have a WWII German political pin collection this will fit into it nicely.
