Item #: WR1127

This is a stenciled Reichsadler banner from the World War II period. This one is a larger size, measuring 79"" wide and 76 1/2" high. It is constructed of a two panels of red cotton fabric. Centered on the material is a stenciled Reichsadler eagle clutching a canted swastika within a laurel wreath. This flag is two sided. A 2" red fly is sewn on each side of the banner, with each side having three aluminum grommets. There is also a sleeve sewn from one side to the other between the first and second grommets. I'm not sure how this one was designed to be used. The colors of the flag are faded, with the red field showing some discoloration and fading. There is no staining on the flag on either side. The eagle is a faded black, and in places shows evidence that it may have been gilt at one time. There are no major rips or tears in the banner, but there are a few small holes scattered around. It has verbal history of being brought home by a veteran of the European theater. While it may be a bit faded and a larger size, it still has some nice eye appeal if you have the space.
