This is a US 2nd Infantry Division patch from the Cold War period, 1980's - 1990's. The patch measures 3 1/2" wide and 4 1/4" high. The patch is a subdued black shield with a black Indian head on green five pointed star. The one piece patch is all machine sewn. There is no moth damage on the patch at all. The 2nd Infantry Division was constituted on 21 September, 1917 in the Regular Army. It was organized on 26 October, 1917 in Bourmont, Haute Marne, France. The division has remained on active duty from 1917 to the present. This Division can boost about many things, it's the only American division to be organized overseas, the only division to be commanded by Marine generals, the only division to have Marine units in it's organization among other things! The patch still shows the treads where it was sewn on a uniform. The overall condition of this Cold War period 2nd Infantry Division patch is very good.
