This is a German made Red Cross flag from the Vietnam War period. The flag measures 53" high and 60" wide. It is constructed of a single panel of white cloth with a dyed red cross in the center. Both of the original halyard ropes are still attached to the flag to attach to a flag pole. The colors of the flag are still very bright and clean, but there are a couple areas of staining on the white field. There are no major rips or tears in the flag, and there is no moth damage anywhere on the flag. The flag has a small makers label sewn onto the hoist that reads in red stitching BONNER FAHNENFABRIK GMBH/53 BONN KELTENWEG 2, the manufacturers name and address. Stenciled in black ink on the hoist is the Army National Stock Number of 8345-12-124-5213 and the date of 2/71. A flag of this size would have been flown outside a hospital or other medical building. If your Vietnam collection includes or specializes in MedEvac or medical units this will fit right in.
